China has called on all parties involved to take immediate steps to de-escalate tensions between Iran and Israel, urging a return to dialogue and diplomacy. Speaking at a press briefing on Monday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said, “We urge all sides to act responsibly, prevent further instability in the region, and create favorable conditions for resolving the issues through dialogue and consultation.” Earlier on Sunday, another spokesperson stated that China is ready to play a constructive role in easing tensions.
Hamas has categorically denied rumors of an assassination attempt on Dr. Khalil Al-Hayya, head of its Gaza branch, in Doha. Amid escalating attacks between Iran and Israel, Pakistan has indefinitely closed its border with Iran. The Chief Adviser has ordered the formation of a committee to investigate the roles of former Chief Election Commissioners, Election Commissioners, and secretaries of the Election Commission Secretariat in organizing three controversial national elections. The Dhaka University administration has formed the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) election commission, appointing Professor Dr. Mohammad Jasim Uddin of the Botany Department as the Chief Returning Officer.
