Iran’s top Shia cleric Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi has issued a fatwa labeling U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as “enemies of God.” The fatwa states that any individual or leader who threatens Islamic figures is a warmonger and is effectively waging war against the Creator. Shirazi urged Muslims worldwide to unite in opposition to such leaders, declaring it religiously impermissible for any state or individual to cooperate with them. He further stated that those who suffer in the path of defending religion should be seen as warriors of God.

Zohran Mamdani, a candidate for New York City Mayor, has said that the existence of millionaires perpetuates extreme inequality and is fundamentally unjust. He argued that the city should be designed for working-class and low-income residents. While open to working with the wealthy, Mamdani supports raising taxes on affluent New Yorkers. In response, former President Donald Trump threatened to cut federal funding to New York City if Mamdani “doesn’t behave.”

Economic adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed has remarked that former central bank governors acted as agents of the government, but insisted that such practices are no longer the norm. Speaking to NBR officials, he encouraged them to maintain neutrality and transparency in their duties. On recent anti-corruption investigations against six NBR officials, he declined to comment but asserted the current government does not interfere in such matters. He also expressed concern over disruptions to port and revenue services, saying these actions harm the national interest and damage the business climate.

The National Citizen Party (NCP) has launched its “July March to Build the Nation” from Bangla Motor intersection in the early hours of July 1. Before the march, NCP Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain stated that the July uprising symbolizes not only protest but also sacrifice, determination, and vision. He called for a just and equitable state built through public engagement and historical awareness. The march aims to foster dialogue with the public on democracy, justice, and eliminating inequality.

To mark the anniversary of the historic July–August student-led uprising, the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) has launched a month-long program titled "In Glowing Memory." The inaugural event, featuring the national anthem and a candlelight vigil, drew thousands of activists from various university chapters, including Dhaka University and Jagannath University. Led by JCD President Rakibul Islam and General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir, the event emphasized unity and remembrance. Upcoming events will include discussion forums, human chains, exhibitions, blood donation drives, and cultural programs in memory of those martyred during the movement.

BNP leader Asaduzzaman Ripon has warned that any delay in holding the national election could plunge Bangladesh into a deeper democratic crisis and spark instability. He criticized some political factions for advocating proportional representation and direct elections for women’s seats, accusing them of trying to derail the electoral process because they lack the capacity to field candidates in all 300 constituencies. Ripon also raised concerns over India’s role in bilateral relations, alleging that New Delhi is pressuring Bangladesh through trade restrictions and sanctions. He questioned whether India seeks to be a friend to the Awami League alone or to the people of Bangladesh.

The Democracy Platform has announced plans to unveil a series of political programs on July 3 to commemorate the anniversary of the historic mass uprising. The coalition hopes to adopt a “July Charter” based on a minimum consensus among aligned political forces. In a statement, the group emphasized that the achievements of the uprising must not be compromised for individual or factional interests. They believe democratic reform is possible through united efforts. The platform also condemned the recent brutal violence against a woman in Cumilla and demanded exemplary punishment for those responsible. A press conference is scheduled for July 3 at the Nagorik Oikya office, where the platform will announce its full program for July and August. Key attendees of the recent meeting included Hasnat Qayyum from State Reform Movement, Shahidullah Kaiser from Nagorik Oikya, Bacchu Bhuiyan from Ganosamhati Andolon, and Saiful Haque from the Revolutionary Workers Party, among others.

Dr. Ebrahim Mottaki, head of the Political Science Department at Tehran University, has warned that the United States and Israel may carry out another destructive attack on Iran within the next seven days. He described the current ceasefire not as a sign of peace but as a period of preparation for further attacks. Despite a ceasefire declared after the Iran-Israel conflict on June 24, Iranian and international experts fear it could collapse at any time. Iran also stated it is closely monitoring neighboring countries’ territories to guard against possible aggression.

BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced that messages from Begum Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman are expected to be delivered at the BNP program commemorating the anniversary of the July-August mass uprising. The event will be held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center. Rizvi confirmed that alongside national leaders, like-minded party leaders and family members of martyrs will attend the program. He urged all participants to maintain respectful conduct and fulfill their responsibilities diligently during the event.

Gonadhikar Parishad has announced a month-long program to commemorate the July popular uprising. The schedule includes a discussion meeting on July 1, a rally demanding justice for genocide on July 16, a photography exhibition on July 18, remembrance of imprisoned and injured activists on July 20, discussions and prayers at the sub-district level on July 25, a forum on the role of expatriates on July 26, a session on professionals’ contributions on July 31, a unity and solidarity rally on August 1, and the celebration of July Uprising Day on August 5. Additionally, an event titled “Expectations and Achievements of July” will be held on August 8.

Advisor Asif Mahmud posted on Facebook expressing his concern following an incident at the airport involving his pistol’s empty magazine. He reflected that even with missiles, no one can feel truly safe these days. He accused those responsible for national security of no longer being protectors but rather busy surveilling citizens, engaging in character assassination, and launching absurd, unfounded attacks on leaders of the popular uprising. Asif raised alarm over how CCTV footage was quickly leaked abroad, calling it a grave threat to national security. Questioning how safe ordinary citizens could be if a government advisor himself faces such treatment, he ended with a hopeful note, saying that the public has become more aware and that if any untoward incidents occur against the uprising’s leadership, identifying the culprits will not be difficult.

BNP leader Afaz Uddin Afaz described the 31-point state reform agenda announced by Tarique Rahman as more than just a political program. According to him, it represents a comprehensive blueprint for reestablishing democracy, ensuring good governance, and protecting the fundamental rights of the people. Afaz urged that these points serve as the country’s “Charter of Liberation” and must reach every household. He commenced a campaign by distributing leaflets across various areas of Uttara East police precinct. Expressing optimism, Afaz stated that conspirators will not succeed in delaying elections and that polls will be held on time. He reaffirmed BNP’s commitment to coming to power through the people's vote and pledged that the country would be governed based on the 31-point agenda once BNP assumes office.

Advisor Farida Akhtar has stressed the importance of maintaining Hilsa fish prices within the purchasing power of the general public, ensuring that there is no abnormal price hike. She believes that instead of merely setting price limits, it is crucial to identify the root causes of price increases for effective intervention. The government is actively conducting regular operations and strict measures to protect Hilsa and juvenile fish (jatka), including destroying illegal nets and enforcing punitive actions against fishermen violating regulations. Farida also highlighted the pressing issue of river navigability crisis, which hampers the movement and breeding of Hilsa, calling for urgent attention and comprehensive consideration.

Advisor Asif Mahmud has urged member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to stand united against the growing global trend of Islamophobia. He made the call during the OIC Youth Capital International Program held in Marrakesh, Morocco. Reaffirming Bangladesh's unwavering support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, Mahmud also highlighted the country’s efforts in youth empowerment. In a meeting with ICYF President Taha Ayhan, he discussed the role of youth in the July uprisings and outlined government initiatives in skills development and employment. Advisor Mahmud extended an invitation to OIC youth to participate in the upcoming Global Youth Summit in Bangladesh this September. In response, the ICYF President expressed commitment to enhancing cooperation with Bangladesh and invited the advisor to visit Istanbul. Following his visit to Morocco, Advisor Mahmud is scheduled to travel to Turkey to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and engage in bilateral discussions.
