BNP leader Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon warned that if Ishraq Hossain is not sworn in as mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation by May 26, a contempt of court case will be filed against responsible authorities. He stated that, following the publication of the election gazette, the relevant ministry is constitutionally obligated to arrange the oath ceremony. Khokon also emphasized that holding a fair national election is the interim government’s primary responsibility and warned of chaos if elections are not held by December.

Interim government adviser Rizwana Hasan has declared that factories using underground water must pay a usage fee. Dr. Yunus reiterated his proposal to hold elections between December and June, emphasizing June 30 as a definitive deadline, affirming, “He is a man of his word.”

Nagorik Oikya leader Mahmudur Rahman Manna urged Chief Adviser Dr. Yunus not to consider stepping down. “The people trust him. His sense of duty to the nation won’t allow him to walk away,” Manna said. “As the executive head, he cannot favor anyone. If some have been corrupt in a short time, that’s not a reason to quit in frustration.” He acknowledged the military chief’s recent comments on elections, saying, “The election roadmap must be made clear. I hope Dr. Yunus won’t take any steps that destabilize the nation.”

Two former leaders of the banned Chhatra League have been controversially appointed as president and organizing secretary of Chhatra Dal’s Bar Aulia Degree College unit in Lohagara, Chattogram. Their names—Mohammad Minhaj (President) and Raihan Uddin Munna (Organizing Secretary)—have sparked backlash, with viral images circulating showing their prior affiliations with Awami League student politics. Chattogram South District Chhatra Dal has been urged to remove the names within 72 hours.

Government employees held a protest march inside the Secretariat on Sunday against controversial provisions in the amended Public Service Ordinance 2025. The protestors demanded the removal of what they termed "draconian and black" clauses.
