In Feni’s Chhagalnaiya upazila, two drug-addicted sons allegedly framed their father, Obaidul Haque Majumder, by planting a weapon to implicate him in a criminal case. The incident occurred in Paschim Debpur village under Mohamaya Union. Following the father’s arrest after a Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) raid on April 28, the mother, Sajeda Begum, and other family members fled their home fearing for their lives. Sajeda Begum claimed her sons Rubel and Shiblu, both involved in criminal activities, placed the weapon out of revenge and greed for property. Family members said Rubel and Shiblu had previously assaulted their parents and vandalized their home over property disputes. After being released on bail under their father’s custody, Rubel allegedly pressured him to withdraw a case and later threatened him. Following Obaidul’s detention, the two sons reportedly looted his business, renaming it “Rubel Traders.” RAB inspector Md Fakhruddin Azad Molla confirmed the weapon recovery based on intelligence but said he was unaware of the alleged framing. Police stated that a regular case has been filed and legal action will follow after investigation.
Iran has announced that its ports are ready to provide technical support, supplies, and medical services to commercial ships stranded in the Strait of Hormuz. The state news agency IRNA reported that the Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) sent an emergency message to ship captains in the Persian Gulf region, assuring access to fuel, food, maintenance equipment, and healthcare at Iranian ports. According to the statement, Tehran’s initiative aims to ensure the safety of sailors and maintain navigational readiness in regional waters. The message will be broadcast three times daily for the next three days through maritime communication networks and the Very High Frequency (VHF) system. The development follows months of heightened tension among Iran, Israel, and the United States. Since February, around 2,000 ships and several thousand sailors have been stranded in the area. Iran’s offer came after U.S. President Donald Trump temporarily suspended the military operation “Project Freedom,” which was intended to extract the vessels.
Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) Executive Director Dr. Iftekharuzzaman said that discussions were held with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on restructuring the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to overcome its current stagnation. The biennial International Anti-Corruption Conference is scheduled this year in the Dominican Republic. If held in Bangladesh in 2028, it would mark the fourth time the event takes place in Asia, following Malaysia, Thailand, and South Korea.

Russia has tightened security ahead of its upcoming Victory Day parade amid growing concerns for President Vladimir Putin’s safety. According to reports from the Financial Times and Russia’s Important Stories, a leaked European intelligence document claims Putin spends significant time in bunkers due to fears of assassination or coup attempts. His movements and communications are heavily restricted, and his inner circle has been reduced. The reports describe how Putin has built a highly centralized system over 25 years, positioning himself as the ultimate arbiter of Russia’s political and economic elite. This structure leaves the state vulnerable to instability if he were to suddenly disappear. Potential successors such as Alexei Dyumin, Sergei Kiriyenko, or Dmitry Patrushev are mentioned, but none appear capable of resolving the system’s dependence on Putin’s authority. Analysts cited in the reports suggest that Putin’s sudden death could end his personal rule but not the system he created. Western governments, though familiar with his methods, might face new uncertainties as rival factions within Russia compete for control, potentially reshaping relations with the West.

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has accused Israel of deliberately restricting food and aid supplies to Gaza, creating what it calls a 'man-made malnutrition crisis.' The organization said that children, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers are suffering the most severe consequences of this situation. In a recently released report, MSF also questioned the operations of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a U.S. and Israel-backed organization established last year to replace the United Nations’ relief distribution system in Gaza. According to MSF, this change has caused significant disruption in aid delivery. Based on an analysis conducted between late 2024 and early 2026 at four health centers in Gaza, MSF reported alarming increases in infant mortality, premature births, and miscarriages among malnourished mothers. MSF’s emergency medical representative, Mars Rokaspana, stated that the crisis was entirely artificially created, blaming deliberate obstruction of humanitarian assistance for the worsening conditions.

Claude has introduced several new capabilities for its Managed Agents platform, including dreaming, outcomes, and multiagent orchestration. Dreaming, now available as a research preview, allows agents to review past sessions, identify patterns, and refine their memory automatically or with user oversight. This process helps agents self-improve over time by curating and updating memory stores, making them more effective for long-running or collaborative tasks. The outcomes feature enables developers to define success criteria for tasks, which agents then use to evaluate and refine their work. A separate grader assesses the results independently, allowing agents to self-correct without human intervention. Internal testing showed measurable improvements in task success and file generation quality. Developers can also integrate webhooks to receive notifications when outcomes are completed. Multiagent orchestration allows a lead agent to divide complex jobs among specialized subagents that work in parallel and share context. This structure provides transparency through the Claude Console, where users can trace each agent’s actions. Dreaming is available in research preview, while outcomes, orchestration, and memory are in public beta.
A bipartisan delegation of US senators met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing ahead of President Donald Trump’s scheduled visit to China next week. The meeting took place on Thursday, a day after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi’s visit to Beijing. Discussions focused on bilateral trade and maintaining regional stability. The delegation, led by Republican Senator Steve Daines, called for mutual respect and stability between Washington and Beijing, emphasizing the need to reduce tensions rather than sever ties. The meeting followed Wang Yi’s earlier remarks during his meeting with Iran’s foreign minister, where he described the ongoing conflict between Iran and the United States as illegal and urged an immediate end to the war. He reaffirmed China’s constructive role in restoring peace in the Middle East. Analysts cited in the report suggested that President Trump aims to reach an agreement with Tehran before his May 14–15 summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Washington is reportedly seeking to use Beijing’s diplomatic influence to ease global economic disruptions caused by instability in the Middle East and oil supply issues in the Strait of Hormuz.
