Police in Barishal have arrested two individuals, including Mostafizur Rahman Litu, accused of assaulting Abdul Aziz Hawlader, Managing Director of Agrani Housing, and coercing him to sign two checks and several stamps. The incident occurred on June 27 at Aziz’s office on Sadar Road and became public after CCTV footage went viral on social media. Following a court case, police detained Litu and his associate Abul Kalam Azad, while efforts to arrest others continue. According to sources, Litu was formerly a director of Agrani Housing and had previously settled his dues two years ago. However, after the BNP came to power, he allegedly renewed demands for money from Aziz. The Barishal district and city units of Jubo Dal later held a press conference denying that Litu is affiliated with their organization, stating he holds no position in any committee. Litu claimed the dispute stemmed from unpaid business transactions and alleged that Aziz’s staff assaulted him before the confrontation. The court has ordered police to investigate and submit a report on the case.

Argentina, the defending champions, are preparing to face Egypt in the World Cup Round of 16, with coach Lionel Scaloni considering up to three changes in the starting lineup. According to Argentine outlet TyC Sports, adjustments may occur in defense, midfield, and attack. After a dramatic 3-2 extra-time win over Cape Verde, Argentina’s training was canceled due to a storm, shifting full focus to Tuesday’s knockout match. The main debate centers on who will partner Lionel Messi in attack—Lautaro Martínez or Julián Álvarez. Álvarez, recovering from a pre-tournament ankle injury, is not yet fully fit, while Martínez struggled to make an impact against Cape Verde. In defense, Nicolás Tagliafico could replace Facundo Medina, who suffered cramps in the previous match. In midfield, either Leandro Paredes or Nicolás González may come in, possibly at the expense of Thiago Almada. Scaloni is known for tactical surprises, but the core structure from the Cape Verde match is expected to remain, with any changes likely limited to strategic adjustments.

At Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, 61 passengers of a Malaysia-bound Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight failed to board after collecting their boarding passes. The incident occurred on Saturday night when flight BG-386 departed without 76 passengers. Immigration officials had earlier offloaded 10 passengers and stopped five others at the boarding gate due to visa discrepancies. Following the detection of fake visas, dozens of passengers disappeared from the airport. Airport sources said the passengers were likely attempting to travel illegally under a scheme known locally as “body contract,” involving forged or mismatched travel documents. Intelligence officials suspect a network that may include airline and airport staff facilitated the process. Most of the passengers were reportedly seeking employment in Malaysia using tourist visas. Authorities, including the airport’s executive director and intelligence agencies, are investigating the incident to identify those involved. Police’s Special Branch noted that some travelers were exploiting the potential reopening of Malaysia’s labor market to enter the country illegally.
