Lamya, 17, daughter of martyred Jasim Uddin, was laid to rest beside her father’s grave after her funeral at Pangashia Girls’ High School field. She had taken her own life in her room in Dhaka’s Shekhertek area on Saturday night and was declared dead at Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital.

The Bangladesh Catholic Church will organize an interfaith dialogue in September. Md. Akhter Hossain, Director General of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), has confirmed that an investigation has been launched against Moazzem Hossain, former APS to adviser Asif Mahmud, and Tuhin Farabi, personal officer to adviser Nurjahan Begum, over allegations of corruption.
The ACC’s intelligence unit is actively pursuing inquiries, and updates on the probe’s progress will be announced soon.

In a protest demanding justice for the murder of Primeasia University student Zahidul Islam Parvez, the Private University Wing of Chhatra Dal demanded the abolishment of the “Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.” They issued a 72-hour ultimatum to arrest the perpetrators. Zahid’s father, Jasim Uddin, called for swift public execution of his son’s killers.

BNP leader Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury revealed he faces 42 cases and emphasized that over six million BNP activists have been victims of false cases, forced disappearances, killings, and professional losses. He questioned whether the state would ever compensate those who have been wronged during their fight for democracy against authoritarian rule.

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has suspended the written examinations for the 46th BCS, initially scheduled to start on May 8. The announcement came from PSC Chairman Prof. Dr. Mobasher Monem after job seekers staged a blockade at Shahbagh, demanding reforms. The protest halted traffic in the area.

During a courtesy meeting with EU Ambassador Charles Whiteley, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman requested the installation of CCTV cameras at every polling station to ensure free and fair elections.

Aspiring government job candidates blocked Shahbagh intersection for two and a half hours demanding eight reforms, including changes to the PSC. Mohammad Bin Yamin Molla, President of the Student Rights Council, alleged that the preliminary exam of the 46th BCS was leaked, questioning the validity of holding a written exam. Some candidates have also been on hunger strike for over 80 hours at Raju Sculpture. Molla stated they would continue protesting until all demands are met.

Ganadhikar Parishad leader Abu Hanif has demanded that advisers Asif Mahmud and Nurjahan step down following corruption allegations against their personal staff members.
He specifically called for the arrest of Tanvir, an NCP leader and accused aide, citing the potential misuse of government facilities for political gains.
Hanif warned that if advisers harbor political ambitions, they cannot be allowed to exploit their advisory positions, stressing that they now represent political groups rather than students.

Barrister Kaiser Kamal, Secretary General of the Nationalist Lawyers’ Forum, has demanded strict legal action against former Chief Justice A.B.M. Khairul Haque, whom he blamed for destroying democracy and human rights in Bangladesh.
Kamal announced that protest rallies will be held across the country’s courts on Tuesday, calling for Haque’s immediate arrest and trial.
Advocate Zainul Abedin added that partisan judges still remain in various levels of the judiciary and called for their swift removal.

National Congress Party (NCP) leader Samanta Sharmin stated that the upcoming elections will see new political alignments and possibly several surprises.
Sharmin noted that many traditional political groups may not participate this time, leading to the emergence of fresh dynamics that could significantly impact the election results.
“We might even surprise ourselves,” she added optimistically, expressing hope for a strong showing by the NCP. She mentioned that candidate selection is still under discussion and that seat-sharing may vary depending on the Election Commission’s final decision.

Asaduzzaman Fuad, a leader of AB Party, declared that the future of the Awami League’s politics will be decided by the 14 martyr families, not by any “civil society advisers,” “in-laws,” or directives from Delhi.
Speaking at an event, Fuad said that supporters of the mass uprising will participate in the open hearings of the Public Inquiry Commission, and decisions about Awami League’s fate, questions of genocide, and the future of India-aligned parties will be made based on public opinion.
He expressed frustration over the lack of progress in seeking justice and criticized some so-called advisers for paying lip service to the spirit of 1971 while neglecting the martyrs of later tragedies.
