Mohammad Hasan, a 23-year-old Hafiz of the Qur’an injured during the July uprising, passed away Thursday night while receiving treatment in Thailand. Sadiq Qayem, a student leader from Shibir, announced that his funeral prayer (janaza) will take place at 9 PM on Saturday (May 24) at the Central Shaheed Minar. He called on people to attend the janaza, describing it as both a humanitarian duty and a spiritual commitment. Sadiq vowed that the perpetrators behind the July massacre would be brought to justice at any cost, Insha’Allah.

Religious Adviser Dr. A.F.M. Khalid Hossain traveled to Thailand on Friday after learning of the death of Hasan, the latest and possibly final martyr of the July Uprising. He expressed deep sorrow and extended condolences to the bereaved family. Hasan was initially treated at Chattogram Medical College, then moved to Dhaka’s CMH, followed by Bangkok’s Bumrungrad Hospital, and later to Phyathai Phaholyothin Hospital, where he died Thursday night around 11 PM.

Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan visited the grave of Shaheed Sheikh Md. Sakib Raihan, who was killed during the July uprising. On July 19, Sakib was shot in the chest during a student protest near Popular Diagnostic Center in Mirpur-6. Awami League-affiliated activists reportedly opened fire and detonated crude bombs indiscriminately during the crackdown. Sakib was rushed to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.

At 11 AM on Tuesday, seven more individuals injured during the July uprising were sent to Thailand for advanced medical treatment. The patients are Md. Ashraful Alam, Md. Rakib Ul Islam, Md. Authorities have announced that an additional 20 injured individuals will be sent abroad for treatment in the coming days. The formerly known Old Road No. 27 has been renamed to honor Faiyaz, who was martyred there on July 18, 2024.
Faiyaz’s father, Shahidul Islam Bhuiyan, who was present at the ceremony, expressed his gratitude to the caretaker government and DSCC for commemorating his son’s sacrifice.
“I have lost my only son to the people's uprising — an irreparable loss. But this honor gives some solace,” he said.
