According to the official Facebook page of the Bangladesh Army, Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman visited the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) and various military camps on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. His visits included SBP, OSP, SGP, CMH Dhaka, and several other army installations.

During his visits, he exchanged Eid greetings with army personnel and participated in a festive meal. Additionally, the army chief distributed Eid gifts to families affected by the recent fire incident in Bhashantek.

Following devastating earthquakes in Myanmar and Thailand, Bangladesh has dispatched emergency relief under the directive of the Chief Adviser. Two transport aircraft from the Bangladesh Army and Air Force left for Yangon, carrying 16.5 tons of aid, including dry rations, clean water, tents, hygiene products, and medical supplies. A 26-member military rescue team and a 10-member fire service unit are on standby for relief operations, while medical teams comprising both military and civilian doctors have also been mobilized.

While Myanmar struggles to recover from a devastating earthquake that has killed 1,700 people, the country’s military junta has launched airstrikes on rebel groups. UN special rapporteur Tom Andrews condemned the attacks, stating, "While everyone is focused on rescue efforts, the military is dropping bombs. This is absolutely unacceptable." The airstrikes killed seven people in Shan State’s Naung Cho, occurring just three hours after the earthquake. The military also conducted aerial attacks near the Thailand border.

Army Chief General Wakar-Uz-Zaman visited a military camp in Khagrachari on Saturday, engaging with troops and providing strategic guidance to maintain high morale and operational readiness. He also met with local dignitaries and officials to discuss the army’s role in regional development and peacekeeping. During his visit, he commended the troops for their service and extended early Eid greetings.

The Bangladesh Army has intensified security monitoring to ensure smooth traffic flow and a safe Eid holiday, according to ISPR. The 9th Infantry Division has increased surveillance in Dhaka and nearby districts, facilitated understanding between factory owners and workers in industrial areas, and ensured safety at launch terminals, train stations, and bus stands. The army is actively managing major highways like Dhaka-Tangail and Dhaka-Mymensingh to prevent travel disruptions.

Army Chief General Waqar-Uz-Zaman led the Maghrib prayer during a presidential reception at Bangabhaban, sparking widespread discussion. Responding to the controversy, his former army colleague and retired officer, Abu Rushd Md. Shahidul Islam, defended him, stating:

"Even in his youth, Waqar used to lead prayers. We were coursemates and roommates, spending two years training together in the same platoon in 1984-85. Our rigorous training left us exhausted, but Waqar would still perform ablution and offer prayers diligently, even completing missed prayers before sleeping."

The United States has expressed interest in enhancing Bangladesh’s military capabilities. Deputy Commanding General Lt. Gen. Joel P. visited Bangladesh on March 24-25 to discuss how US military equipment could open new possibilities for Bangladesh. During meetings with Army Chief Gen. Waqar-Uz-Zaman and senior military officials, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to longstanding US-Bangladesh defense relations. Discussions also covered mutual security interests and ongoing military cooperation, including the upcoming “Tiger Lightning” exercise this summer. Additionally, talks explored potential purchases of US-made defense equipment to strengthen Bangladesh’s military.

President Md. Shahabuddin hosted a reception and Iftar gathering on the occasion of Independence Day. Following Iftar, attendees performed the Maghrib prayer under a temporary shed at the venue, led by the Army Chief as the Imam. Notably, President Md. Shahabuddin was seen praying while seated on a chair behind the Imam. Among the worshippers were Chief Election Commissioner A.M.M. Nasir Uddin, Home Secretary Nasimul Gani, and other invited guests.

Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman called the July mass uprising a turning point in Bangladesh’s history. He reiterated the army's commitment to realizing the dreams of the uprising’s heroes.

"With our motto—‘In war, in peace, always for the nation’—the Bangladesh Army will always stand by the country’s welfare," he said at a reception for July uprising veterans.

He urged unity in upholding patriotism, nationalism, integrity, humanity, and discipline to propel Bangladesh toward prosperity.

Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman has urged citizens to remain vigilant against misinformation, stating that the dedication and responsibility with which the army is operating in the current situation will be remembered by the nation. He emphasized that both the government and the public are aware of the army’s role. Contrary to rumors, no state of emergency has been declared. The army’s highest priority is the country and its people. With Eid approaching, maintaining law and order is crucial. The UN Secretary-General has also praised the army’s role in handling peacekeeping efforts and managing the post-August 5 situation.

An iftar event was organized at Comilla Cantonment to honor over 400 injured protesters from the July uprising. Speaking at the event, GOC Major General Abul Hasnat Mohammad Tariq described the uprising as a glorious chapter in Bangladesh’s democratic struggle. He acknowledged the army’s respect for those who participated. Across the country, 4,221 injured individuals received treatment at various military hospitals, with 63 receiving care in Comilla Cantonment.

Army Headquarters has confirmed that the meeting between Army Chief General Wakar-Uz-Zaman, Hasnat Abdullah, and Sargis Alam on March 11 was initiated by Hasnat and Sargis. The headquarters stated, "The proposal for forming a 'Refined Awami League' was expressed as a personal opinion by the Army Chief. While he suggested that a competitive and widely accepted election would be beneficial, he also emphasized that the government and all political parties should collectively decide on the matter. There was no pressure from his side." The headquarters also dismissed Hasnat Abdullah's social media post as "purely political stunt."

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has issued a statement in response to remarks made by UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk regarding the role of Bangladesh’s military in an alleged coup. Türk had claimed that he "warned" the military not to participate in repression, which he suggested led to a government change. In its statement, ISPR clarified that the Bangladesh military was never informed of any such warning. "If any concerns were expressed, they would have been directed to the government at the time, not the military," ISPR stated. The statement also emphasized that Türk's comments are being misrepresented, potentially leading to misconceptions about the military’s professionalism.

Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi has stated that the military relations between India and Bangladesh are strong, with regular exchanges of strategic notes. Addressing Bangladesh’s ties with China and Pakistan, he remarked, "Both countries maintain high-level cooperation, which we must acknowledge. What concerns me is the dual threat reality—if a country known as a hub for terrorism forms close ties with my neighbor, it is a matter of concern." He emphasized the risk of terrorism spreading through such alliances.
