Two young men, Abdul Qayyum and Tareq, lost their lives in Akhaura while attempting to record a TikTok video on the roof of a moving train. Two others were injured and are currently undergoing treatment.

Eyewitnesses reported that the four men were filming a video while crossing the Gangasagar Bridge. They got entangled with overhead electrical wires, lost balance, and fell off the bridge. Abdul Qayyum died instantly, while Tareq succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.

The death toll from the powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake in Myanmar has surpassed 2,700. Former imam of the Mayoma Mosque, Soe Nai, has lost 170 of his family members and loved ones in the disaster. Reports indicate that three mosques in the Sagaing region collapsed, including the largest, Mayoma Mosque. Many worshippers inside these mosques were killed.

In the following days, Soe Nai received one heartbreaking news after another—the deaths of his relatives, friends, and former colleagues, most of whom perished inside the mosque. “Among the deceased are small children,” he said.

On Monday, Myanmar’s military leader Min Aung Hlaing stated that nearly 500 worshippers died when mosques collapsed during prayers.

Mohammad Hasan, who was arrested on charges of rape, committed suicide in police custody at Bhola Sadar Model Police Station around midnight on Monday. Reports indicate that earlier that day, during Eid, a housewife from Medua village accused Hasan of raping her when she went to store meat in his refrigerator. Enraged locals caught Hasan and assaulted him before handing him over to the police, who then admitted him to Bhola Sadar Hospital. After receiving medical treatment, he was placed in custody at 8 PM. Later, he reportedly hanged himself in the toilet.
