Md. The court has once again postponed the submission deadline for the investigation report into the Bangladesh Bank reserve heist. The new date has been set for July 2. On February 5, 2016, hackers fraudulently transferred $81 million from Bangladesh Bank’s account at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York via SWIFT codes. The stolen funds were later funneled to the Philippines. Investigators believe a local network may have aided the cybercriminals in laundering the money abroad.

The Chattogram Protection Committee held a sit-in protest from 10 AM to 1 PM on Sunday, opposing any plans to hand over management of the Chattogram Port to foreign companies. Speakers called for dismantling syndicates formed under successive Awami League governments and emphasized that while they are not against foreign investment, there is no justification for outsourcing the management of facilities that the country can operate independently. Home Affairs Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has assured that the investigation into the murder of Dhaka University student Shahriar Alam Samya will be handed over to the Detective Branch (DB). A delegation led by DU Vice Chancellor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan met the adviser at the Ministry of Home Affairs. Inspector Sujan Haque of Vatara Police Station confirmed that actress Nusrat Faria has been formally arrested in connection with an attempted murder case. She was initially detained at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport while en route to Thailand. Following preliminary questioning at the airport, she was transferred to Vatara Police Station. Sources say there was an active arrest warrant against her, and she has now been shown as arrested under that warrant.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Joint Commissioner Rabiul Hossain Bhuiyan has confirmed that actress Nusrat Faria is being interrogated at the Detective Branch (DB) office. She was detained by immigration police at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Sunday while attempting to travel to Thailand. Faria is named in an attempted murder case filed at Vatara Police Station during a recent mass uprising. However, she has not yet been officially shown as arrested in the case, according to Officer-in-Charge Mazaharul Islam.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has initiated a probe into the alleged accumulation of illegal wealth by Sheikh Hasina. A special investigation team, led by ACC Deputy Director Masudur Rahman, has been tasked with verifying her asset declarations and scrutinizing her income tax records to uncover any discrepancies.

Dr. M. Sakhawat Hossain, Adviser to the Government, has emphasized the need for a coordinated effort by all ministries to eliminate child labour in Bangladesh.

He noted that child labour is still prevalent across the country, particularly in farming, fishing, and brick kilns. Many children are deprived of education and are forced into work due to their families’ financial struggles—negatively affecting their health and development.

The adviser stated that the National Child Welfare Council is working to ensure children's rights, protection, and overall development. He added that national steering committees, along with district and upazila-level bodies, are actively working on this issue, while NGOs are also implementing projects focused on education and child development.

A Dhaka court has allowed two days of jail-gate interrogation for Chinmoy Krishna Das, spokesperson of the Sanatani Jagoron Jote, in connection with cases of murder and sedition. APP Advocate Md. Raihanul Wazed Chowdhury stated that investigators sought one day each for questioning in both cases. The court granted the requests after a hearing at 11:30 a.m. Police say Das was linked to multiple cases, including the murder of Saiful Islam Alif.

During preliminary talks with Jamaat-e-Islami, political analyst Ali Riaz emphasized that building national consensus is not just the responsibility of the National Consensus Commission but also of political parties, civil society, and other stakeholders. The Election Commission’s vast national ID database is under serious technical risk due to the absence of an active disaster recovery system. The main database uses five open-source systems with no enterprise-level support. Built over 18 years, this database has no integrated international-standard backup tool. In case of a cyberattack or major accident, all NID-related services may be suspended for an extended period, including the printing of voter lists. The EC acknowledged the risk and said it is implementing recommendations from the cyber audit committee to ensure future security.

Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed and Legal Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul have arrived in South Africa to gain firsthand experience before the formation of Bangladesh’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission. They were welcomed at the airport by Bangladesh’s Ambassador to South Africa, Shah Ahmed Shafi. The delegation is scheduled to meet with officials of South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission in Johannesburg and Cape Town. National Security Adviser Khondaker Khalilur Rahman has firmly denied allegations that he holds foreign citizenship. “I am a full citizen of Bangladesh and ready to exercise my rights,” he said. He challenged his accuser to prove the claim in court. Earlier, BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed had alleged that a foreign citizen was serving as Bangladesh’s security adviser, raising concerns about military reporting and national sovereignty. India’s space agency ISRO failed in its latest mission to launch the EOS-09 satellite into orbit on Sunday. The rocket was destroyed mid-flight after it failed to deploy the satellite. The mission was broadcast live, and ISRO Chief V. Narayanan publicly acknowledged the failure during the coverage.
