In a Facebook post, Ishraq Hossain strongly condemned the resurgence of key figures from the controversial Gonojagoron Moncho movement, stating that an interim government must take strict action against them. He accused the platform of facilitating judicial killings, brutal persecution of Islamic scholars, rigging the 2014 elections in favor of Sheikh Hasina, and enabling extrajudicial killings that suppressed opposition parties, including the BNP. He argued that the movement laid the foundation for a decade of fascist rule in Bangladesh.

A case has been filed against 12 individuals, including Meghmallar Basu, for allegedly attacking the police during an anti-rape protest march at Hotel Intercontinental intersection. SI Abul Khayer filed the case, naming 12 individuals and accusing an additional 70-80 unidentified persons. The accused include Aung Aung Marma (25), Sumaiya Shahina (25), Adritha Roy (23), Arman (30), Meghmallar Basu (28), Al Amin Rahman (25), Richard (26), Hasan Shikdar (25), Seema Akter (25), Soukat Arif (26), Main Ahmed (24), and Fahim Ahmed Chowdhury (25).

BNP leader Zainul Abedin Faruk has accused the NCP of causing disruptions to delay the upcoming elections. He emphasized that a free and fair election is crucial to fulfilling the people’s expectations and aspirations. He urged the government to announce a clear roadmap for the national parliamentary elections without further delay.

Faruk also criticized the government, saying, “I don’t care about the Constitutional Assembly. What matters to me is that I have faced 84 cases and spent 9 out of 16 years in jail. As a political activist and a freedom fighter, I appeal to Professor Muhammad Yunus—not for a Constitutional Assembly, but for a fair and impartial national election that reflects the hopes and dreams of the people of Bangladesh.”

A BNP leader in Sonargaon’s Noagaon Union was allegedly assaulted by Jatiya Party leader Hazrat Ali and his followers after protesting extortion. According to reports, Hazrat Ali’s associates forcibly took a cable machine and 200,000 BDT in cash from Aman, a friend of BNP leader Sanaullah, and demanded additional extortion money. When Sanaullah attempted to mediate the issue in a local arbitration, the attackers refused to return the machine and instead launched an armed attack on him.

The Bangladesh Army has renamed 16 institutions and facilities that were previously named after members of the Sheikh family. Bongobondhu Cantonment is now Jamuna Cantonment. Bir Muktijoddha Abdul Hamid Cantonment has been renamed Mithamain Cantonment. Sheikh Hasina Cantonment is now Barishal Cantonment. Sheikh Russell Cantonment has been renamed Padma Cantonment. The Ad-hoc Bongobondhu Military Museum is now the Bangladesh Military Museum. Bongobondhu Composite Military Farm Char Janajat has been renamed Composite Military Farm Jajira. Bongobondhu Museum is now the Independence Museum. Bongobondhu Cantonment Public School & College is now Jamuna Cantonment Public School & College. Sheikh Russell Cantonment Public School & College has been renamed Adamjee Cantonment Public School & College. The renaming follows a broader administrative restructuring within the military.

A court has issued arrest warrants against Sheikh Hasina and eight others in a case filed by Hefazat-e-Islam over the alleged Shapla Chattar massacre. The accused include former Home Minister Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir, former IGPs Hassan Mahmud Khandaker and Benazir Ahmed, as well as Imran H. Sarker of the Gonojagoron Moncho. Since Shamsul Haque Tuku, Shahidul Haque, Ziaul Ahsan, and Molla Nazrul Islam are already in prison, the court has ordered their formal arrest in this case. Hefazat-e-Islam initially filed charges against 50 individuals, including Sheikh Hasina, at the tribunal’s prosecution on November 27.

In an unusual political sight, local leaders from both the BNP and the Awami League joined a rally in Ramgati, Lakshmipur, marking National Disaster Preparedness Day.

The event, organized by the Upazila Administration and Disaster Management Department, gained traction online after the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) posted photos on Facebook. The images, which quickly went viral, showed the UNO, Syed Amzad Hossain, standing alongside local Awami League leaders Kamal Uddin Manjur and Mozahidul Islam Didar. On the other side of the frame were BNP leaders Dr. Jamal Uddin and Md. Siraj Uddin.

The UNO later removed the photos from his account.

A court has granted a three-day remand for Junaid Ahmed Palak and a four-day remand for two banned Chhatra League leaders—Siam Rahman and Anwar Hossain Naim—in connection with the Dhanmondi murder case linked to mass protests.

The case stems from the killing of Shahid Riyaz, who was shot dead on August 4 during a protest in Dhanmondi, allegedly by police and ruling party activists. His mother, Shafia Begum, later filed a murder case on September 10.

AB Party leader Abdul Wahab Minar has stated that free and fair elections in Bangladesh are impossible without addressing law and order concerns. “The recent surge in rape cases is alarming. How can theft, robbery, and rape occur while the military is on the streets? The government must answer for this,” he said. Another party leader, Moin Uddin Khan Ripon, added that the AB Party has been at the forefront of movements against autocracy and accused the ruling government of money laundering, urging strong measures to recover stolen assets.

Former student leader Sadiq Kayem has called for resistance against what he described as the “fascist icons” of the Awami League, including activist Lucky Akter. He alleged that anti-national forces are taking advantage of divisions within pro-Bangladesh organizations, rehabilitating figures like Akter. He stated, “Shahbagh paved the way for Hasina’s fascism, and its figures were key investments for Awami League’s ideological dominance.” Kayem further claimed that the “July generation” had played a crucial role in toppling fascist ideologies and would continue to resist any oppressive forces.

In a controversial statement, Hasnat Abdullah claimed that the Shahbagh movement curtailed free speech and fundamental rights in Bangladesh. “Shahbagh didn’t emerge overnight—it was backed by so-called civil society, intellectuals, bureaucrats, cultural activists, foreign agents, politicians, and even athletes,” he wrote in a post. He accused the movement of legitimizing extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, and judicial murders. Abdullah further alleged that those who helped establish Shahbagh were responsible for the rise of fascism over the past 15 years and vowed to bring past injustices to light.

BNP central leader Humam Quader Chowdhury has accused the ruling Awami League of engaging in dirty politics, asserting that his party does not follow such practices. “Those who caused us pain, who harmed our children, we will not do the same to them,” he stated. However, he added, “You can trust everyone, except the Awami League.” He emphasized that even those who once supported Awami League are part of their broader community. “We cannot completely sever ties, but we have noted those who deceived us and will ensure justice for them,” he warned.

An attempted murder case has been filed against 44 individuals, including Awami League MP Shamim Osman, in connection with the shooting of a protester named Mizan during the recent mass uprising. The case also lists 200–300 unidentified individuals. Other key accused include former minister Golam Dastagir Gazi, Shamim Osman's son Ayon Osman, his nephew Azmeri Osman, and Rupganj Upazila Awami League Vice President Golam Mortuza Pappa. The complaint alleges that the primary accused ordered the shooting, which was later executed by others to suppress the protest.

Members of the Bangladesh Democratic Student Union organized an iftar gathering with the hijra (third-gender) community on Tuesday evening. The event was attended by Dhaka University branch’s Joint Member Secretary Tanzina Tammim Hapsha, Mohammad Sajib Ahmed, and Central Joint Member Secretary Mishu Ali Suhash. The hijra community members expressed their appreciation for being included in the event. Community representatives, including Habiba and Koli, expressed their gratitude, emphasizing that such inclusivity makes them feel valued in society.

Jamaat-e-Islami’s student wing, Islami Chhatra Shibir, has claimed resilience in the face of adversity. Central President Zahidul Islam stated that Shibir is prepared to confront any challenges in the future. He condemned what he described as authoritarian tendencies in governance and vowed to take a strong stance against such actions. He also referenced past incidents where Shibir activists, including Shaheed Sabbir and Shaheed Ayub, were allegedly persecuted for advocating social change and justice.
