Jamaat-e-Islami has accused former UP Chairman Nazrul Islam Manik of orchestrating the murder of two Jamaat activists in Satkania. He was a close associate of former MP Dr. Abu Reza Muhammad Nezamuddin Nadvi and built his wealth through illegal sand extraction, brick kiln operations, land grabbing, and even murder.

Local sources claim that after Manik went into hiding following the events of August 5, his assets—including brick kilns and forest land—were looted, amounting to an estimated Tk 500 million. Allegations have surfaced that the looting was led by the slain Jamaat activists Nezam Uddin and Abu Saleh.

Key Suspect in the Murder of Two Jamaat Activists, Manik, Amassed Billions

The family of BNP leader and former ward councilor Chowdhury Alam has filed a complaint with a tribunal seeking justice for his enforced disappearance. Alam was the first victim of enforced disappearance under the Awami League government. Reports indicate that 18 individuals, including Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya and Ziaul Ahsan Zia, have been named as accused. The family claims that on June 20, 2010, Alam was attacked by individuals identifying themselves as RAB officers while returning from United Hospital in Gulshan. Local residents captured a man named Billal, allegedly a member of RAB-1, and handed him over to Gulshan Police Station. On the night of June 25, law enforcement officials allegedly abducted Alam in a white microbus from Indira Road, Farmgate. Fourteen years have passed, but his whereabouts remain unknown.
