A passenger died when a bus lost control and plunged into a pond in Khulna’s Dumuria upazila on Wednesday morning. The accident occurred around 9:30 a.m. in front of the PCF Feed Industries in Gutudia area. Fire service teams launched a rescue operation soon after receiving the report.

According to local residents, the bus was traveling from Satkhira to Khulna when it veered off the road and fell into the pond. Two passengers remain missing, and the rescue operation is continuing to locate them. Dumuria Police Station Officer-in-Charge Khondaker Hafizur Rahman confirmed that the bus is still submerged and said details about the deceased and the incident will be provided later.

A local BNP leader named Shahinur Sheikh, aged 45, was shot and injured by unidentified assailants in Rupsa upazila of Khulna. Police confirmed the deaths and said legal procedures are underway.

A young man named Rana Mia, aged 28, was killed in a clash in Mymensingh city on Tuesday, June 2. His family alleged that he died after being stabbed by the son of a local Jamaat-e-Islami leader. According to police, Shuvo’s father is Tabarak Hossain, and the family’s permanent residence is in Segunbagicha. Shuvo had been living alone in the Mugda apartment. The landlord last saw him on Eid day, and after noticing a strong odor from the room, informed police. It was also learned that Shuvo had recently divorced.

A man named Abdul Karim, aged 40, died on Tuesday afternoon while undergoing treatment at Rangpur Medical College Hospital following injuries sustained in a clash over a land dispute between brothers in Magura Union of Kishoreganj upazila, Nilphamari. A youth was killed and three others were injured in a clash that broke out during a wedding ceremony in the Challisha area of Netrakona Sadar on Monday night. Police in Godagari upazila of Rajshahi seized a shipment of firearms and ammunition being smuggled from the Chapainawabganj border area to Kushtia. Acting on a tip-off, a team from the Premtoli Police Investigation Center conducted an operation at Rajabarihat on Tuesday afternoon. During the search of a private car, officers recovered two foreign pistols, four magazines, and 53 rounds of ammunition. A young woman and a man were arrested at the scene.

A mobile court in Sherpur upazila of Bogura district sentenced six individuals to varying jail terms on Tuesday for drug use and transportation offenses. Rumel Bijoy (22) one month. The sentences were handed down under charges of drug consumption and transportation.

A police officer was found dead in Rangamati on Monday night in what authorities believe to be a suicide. The body of Sub-Inspector Sajedul Haque was recovered around 12:45 a.m. from his rented home in the Tabalchhari Post Office Colony area, where he lived with his wife and child. Police said the incident followed a heated argument between Sajedul and his wife earlier that night.

According to local and police sources, Sajedul locked himself in his room after the dispute. When he did not respond for a long time, his wife alerted the police. Police in Dhunot upazila of Bogura arrested Parul Khatun, 35, wife of local Jubo League leader Ripon Mia, on Monday night on charges of drug trafficking. Officers seized 40 yaba tablets from her possession. A case was filed against both Ripon and Parul under the Narcotics Control Act, and Parul was sent to Bogura District Jail through court proceedings on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the case details, Ripon Mia, president of the Bhandaibari Union Jubo League, had been involved in drug trading since 2008, allegedly operating under political protection.
