Around 400 Bangladeshis, including embassy officials in Tehran, are at serious risk due to ongoing Israeli attacks in Iran, said Acting Foreign Secretary Ruhul Alam Siddique. During a press briefing on June 17, he stated that the Bangladesh government has issued directives for their relocation to safer areas. The evacuation process is already underway to ensure the safety of all individuals involved. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating efforts to minimize potential threats to Bangladeshi nationals in the region.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained 24-year-old Miton Das, an Indian citizen from Assam's Silchar area, for illegally entering Bangladesh through the Kalenga border in Chunarughat, Habiganj. He was caught near Mongoliya Bari during a routine patrol by the 55 BGB unit. BGB seized Indian and Bangladeshi currency, Indian liquor, a mobile phone, Aadhaar and PAN cards, and other personal items. He was handed over to Chunarughat Police Station on Monday evening for further legal procedures.

A delegation led by Grażyna Baranowska, Vice-Chairperson of the United Nations Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances, paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman.

During the meeting, Baranowska expressed concern over allegations involving former army personnel who previously served in agencies such as the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), and the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

In response, General Waker-Uz-Zaman clarified that such personnel were under the operational command and authority of the respective agencies during their tenure. He reaffirmed the Bangladesh Army’s strong commitment to justice and the protection of human rights, adding that the military continues to fully cooperate with both national and international investigative processes.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued Local Cautionary Signal No. 3 for the sea ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra due to heavy to very heavy rainfall and gusty winds likely to affect the coastal areas and the northern Bay of Bengal. Thunderclouds are forming due to active monsoon conditions and pressure differences in the region. Fishing boats and trawlers have been advised to stay close to shore and proceed with caution until further notice.

During a meeting of the National Consensus Commission, prominent political analyst Dr. Ali Riaz stated that the commission is firmly committed to finalizing the National Charter by July.

"We are determined to complete the charter within the month of July," Riaz said. He expressed sincere gratitude to all political parties and their leaders for their ongoing cooperation in the process.

According to sources, the commission had extended invitations to representatives from 30 political parties and alliances. Except for Jamaat-e-Islami, delegates from 29 parties and alliances were present at the meeting.

Today's discussions are expected to focus on several key issues, including Article 70 of the Constitution, the nomination process for Standing Committee Chairpersons, and the matter of women's representation.

Despite rising global fuel prices driven by escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, the Bangladesh government currently has no plans to increase domestic fuel prices, according to Economic Advisor Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed.

Dr. Ahmed stated that while the global energy market is being affected by the ongoing conflict, the government is closely monitoring the situation and preparing for potential impacts on imports. "We are observing the developments carefully. If the conflict persists, it could affect the prices of imported goods, including fuel and fertilizer, as most of our imports pass through the Strait of Hormuz," he explained.

However, he assured that there is no immediate cause for concern. “The government does not believe there is a need to worry just yet. We remain hopeful that the conflict will not become prolonged,” he added.

In a joint statement, the G7 nations declared their unwavering support for Israel’s right to self-defense amid rising tensions with Iran. The statement labeled Iran as the principal source of instability and terrorism in the Middle East and affirmed that Iran must never be allowed to develop nuclear weapons. The G7 also emphasized the need for a peaceful resolution to the Iran issue and expressed concern over volatility in the global oil market. The coalition reiterated its call for a ceasefire in Gaza.

“Trusting in God, we are here to deliver justice for the July–August massacres. No amount of bullets, bombs, or intimidation can derail this process,” said Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, Chairman of the International Crimes Tribunal-2. He made the statement during a reception honoring him and two other judges on Tuesday. Chief Prosecutor Tazul Islam remarked that the reception marked the official launch of Tribunal-2. Both the Attorney General and Chief Prosecutor expressed hope for justice in the July–August genocide cases.

Protests at the Secretariat continued on Tuesday as government employees demanded the cancellation of the Civil Service (Amendment) Ordinance 2025. At around 11 a.m., demonstrators gathered at Badamtoli within the Secretariat compound and marched to the new Cabinet Division building, where a protest rally was held. A government legal advisor had earlier stated that the ordinance could still be reconsidered.

The International Crimes Tribunal has issued a public notice ordering Sheikh Hasina and Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal to surrender in connection with crimes against humanity related to the alleged genocide during July–August. The notice, published in national newspapers, states that if they fail to appear within seven days, the trial will proceed in their absence. This follows a directive from the tribunal issued on Monday to make the announcement public.

He expressed optimism about reaching an agreement on this matter. Commending the ongoing political dialogues, the UN rights chief added, "I call for meaningful progress on reforms to ensure conditions for free and inclusive elections."

Twenty-one Muslim-majority countries, including Egypt, have issued a joint statement condemning Israeli airstrikes on Iran. The open letter also called for immediate de-escalation and the discontinuation of nuclear projects to prevent a wider regional conflict. Signatories include Egypt, Algeria, Bahrain, Brunei, Chad, Comoros, Djibouti, The Gambia, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Mauritania, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Somalia, Turkey, and the UAE. The letter warned that the war risks engulfing the entire Middle East.

A total of 158 Bangladeshi nationals stranded in Libya have safely returned home, thanks to coordinated efforts by the Bangladesh Embassy in Libya, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM). They arrived at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 5:20 AM on Tuesday, having departed from Tripoli’s Mitiga International Airport on a special Buraq Air flight on Monday.

As Iran and Israel exchanged attacks for the fourth consecutive day, U.S. President Donald Trump abruptly convened a meeting with his national security team in the White House Situation Room. Trump, who was attending the G7 Summit in Canada, cut his visit short to return to Washington for the emergency session. Earlier, Trump had urged residents of Tehran to evacuate amid escalating tensions.

A Rohingya youth named Md. Alamgir (19) was shot dead in Cox’s Bazar’s Teknaf refugee camp on Monday. The incident occurred following an altercation between Alamgir, from D Block, and Nurul Alam, a fellow refugee from C Block. During the confrontation, Nurul allegedly shot Alamgir in the chest with a handmade firearm before fleeing the scene. Alamgir succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.
