ACC Chairman Dr. Mohammad Abdul Momen said that if Tulip Siddiq fails to appear in court after a warrant is issued, she will be declared a fugitive. “Legal representation is standard, but corruption charges must be addressed through the judicial process,” he said. Rejecting claims that the ACC hadn’t contacted Tulip or lacked evidence, Momen confirmed that a comprehensive charge sheet has been prepared based on thorough documentation. The ACC will seek support from the Ministries of Home and Foreign Affairs if needed—applicable to all absconders, including Hasina, Joy, and Putul.

BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed has criticized India’s newly proposed Waqf Bill, claiming it undermines the rights of the country’s minority Muslim population and promotes discriminatory practices. “Muslims across India, along with various Islamic organizations, have condemned the bill as unconstitutional and politically motivated,” he stated.
With over 200 million Muslims in India, Salahuddin warns that the law poses a significant threat to their religious heritage, rights, and cultural interests. He emphasized that most of the nearly one million acres of Waqf property under the boards are used for public welfare—mosques, madrasas, cemeteries, and orphanages.
The inclusion of non-Muslim members in the proposed Waqf management boards has sparked controversy, raising concerns about constitutional violations. “We don’t see such practices in the religious boards of other faiths,” he added, expressing hope that the BJP government will reconsider the bill.

At around 7:10 AM on Sunday, expelled leaders and activists of the Awami League organized a sudden flash protest in Dhaka. The march began at the South Gate of Baitul Mukarram and concluded at the party’s central office on Bangabandhu Avenue. The protest was led by Shah Alam Murad, former General Secretary of Dhaka South Awami League. A video of the protest has surfaced online, showing participation from several local leaders and activists.

In connection with violence during the recent mass uprising on August 4, 93 pro-Awami League lawyers, including former Dhaka Bar presidents and prosecutors, surrendered to the court and sought bail. The case involves charges of vandalism, assault, and attempted murder filed with Kotwali Police Station.

In Nakol village of Magura, a conflict over mosque fund accounting led to the killing of Jubo Dal leader Munshi Miran Hossain (43). In retaliation, locals set fire to the house of former mosque committee president and local BNP leader Jamirul Islam around 10:30 PM. Meanwhile, the district Jubo Dal president led a protest demanding justice for the killing.

BNP leader Harunur Rashid has called for a clear roadmap for holding national elections, emphasizing that the country cannot continue outside of a democratic system. In a violent incident in Comilla’s Chauddagram, local residents attacked the house of former railway minister Mujibul Hossain Mujib, ransacking it and setting it on fire. Fire service personnel were able to control the blaze. The attack followed an altercation in which the nephew of Mujibul Hossain, Abdul Awal Suman, physically assaulted the President of Comilla South District Chhatra Shibir, Mahiyuddin Roni. Local residents cited this as the reason for the attack.

BNP leader Anisur Rahman Talukdar Khokon has vowed to seek justice for the victims of extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances over the past 17 years. BJP Chairman Andalib Rahman Parth has expressed optimism about the recent bilateral talks between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Dr. Muhammad Yunus, believing that it will benefit the country. He emphasized that although the current government is not elected through popular vote, it remains a government that is working for the people. He confirmed that elections are expected between December and June, with December seeming more likely, and that the future of electoral reforms remains uncertain.

Ishraq Hossain has demanded the immediate resignation of student representatives from the government, stating that their continued presence jeopardizes the impartiality of the interim government during elections. He emphasized that the national elections must be held by 2025 and promised that the people would secure these elections together, Insha’Allah. Hefazat-e-Islam has expressed agreement with BNP’s demand for holding the national parliamentary elections by December this year. Both parties have also united in calling for the withdrawal of false charges against Hefazat activists and politicians. Salahuddin Ahmed emphasized the importance of democratic reforms and the need to prioritize peaceful transitions within the democratic process. While the Chief Advisor has assured elections by December, concerns remain as some voices suggest a possible delay until June. Both parties also agreed on the necessity of justice for those killed during the Shapla Square and anti-Modi movements.

Jamaat-e-Islami has confirmed its candidates for the upcoming national parliamentary elections. The party has announced its nominees for the seven constituencies in Bogura, who are as follows: Md. Shahabuddin for Bogura-1, Maulana Shahadatuz Zaman for Bogura-2, Nur Mohammad Abu Taher for Bogura-3, Maulana Taieb Ali for Bogura-4, Dhabibur Rahman for Bogura-5, Abidur Rahman Sohel for Bogura-6, and Golam Rabbani for Bogura-7. The party’s Assistant Secretary General stated that those calling for elections without reforms are essentially aiming to bring back the misrule of Sheikh Hasina. He also criticized those who failed to take action against injustice during the past regime and betrayed the martyrs’ blood. Additionally, speakers at the event demanded capital punishment for their leaders.

BNP Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu has commented on why Tarique Rahman has not yet returned to Bangladesh, saying, “As the highest leader of the BNP at this time, he may have personal strategies. He’s closely observing the national situation before making any decisions.”
Dudu added, “Tarique Rahman enjoys broad national acceptance and will return soon.”
He also remarked, “Previously, students have been called upon to lead movements, revolutions, and even liberation struggles—but no one had asked for party support from students like they’re doing for Dr. Yunus. That’s why it’s becoming controversial.”
Comparing political divides, he concluded, “Just as democracy and fascism are opposites, so are BNP and the League.”

Tarique Rahman, Acting Chairperson of the BNP, has extended both legal and financial assistance to the family of two six-year-old twin girls who were raped in Kabirhat, Noakhali.
On March 25, while playing near their home, one of the twins was assaulted by a 16-year-old local boy named Farid in an abandoned tin-shed house. He was caught by locals and handed over to police, who later placed him in custody following court orders.
