Revolutionary Student Front to Observe July Uprising Day on July 14

Teachers and officials of government secondary schools can apply for transfers and postings online between July 13 and July 31, the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has announced. Applications must be submitted via http://pds.sib.gov.bd using a valid PDS ID and password. Applicants can choose up to five preferred institutions. Only those with updated PDS records and completed probation periods are eligible. Applications via any method other than the official online portal will not be accepted. Transfer decisions will be jointly managed by the Ministry of Education and DSHE.

Imran Khan’s Sons May Lead PTI Protest in Pakistan on August 5

Two teachers, Professor Dr. Mosharraf Hossain and Professor Dr. Rois Uddin, resigned from the investigation committee formed over an attack on two Jagannath University Management Department faculty by student league activists. Dr. Mosharraf, also the Teachers Association president, stated his conflict of interest as a complainant. The university appointed new members to the committee. Students protested demanding swift justice, boycotting classes and surrounding the Vice-Chancellor’s office with a 24-hour ultimatum against the administration’s handling of the incident.

In July 2025, Feni district experienced severe flooding following continuous rainfall and upstream surges from India. Floodwaters breached 36 sections of embankments along the Muhuri, Kahuya, and Silonia rivers, primarily affecting Parshuram and Fulgazi upazilas. Over one million residents across 112 villages faced hardships, with thousands taking shelter in relief centers. Significant losses occurred in agriculture, fisheries, and livestock sectors, amounting to several crores. Efforts by local authorities and volunteers continue as waters gradually recede, but food and safe water shortages persist.

Nasiruddin Patwary, chief coordinator of the National Citizens Party (NCP), has called for the reconstitution of the current Election Commission before the upcoming elections. He emphasized the need to amend the law governing the commission’s formation and retain capable members under a new system. A woman from Bogura was arrested by India's Border Security Force (BSF) after she illegally crossed the Tripura border to meet her Indian lover without a visa or passport. The woman and her partner, identified as Dutta Yadav, were detained in Sepahijala district. Indian authorities have filed cases against them under the Passport Act, the Foreigners Act, and the Indian Penal Code. They were remanded to judicial custody for 14 days by a local court on Friday.
