Icelandic architects from S APP Architecture envision a revolutionary project to build sustainable cities by harnessing volcanic lava. Their “Lava Forming” concept involves controlling lava flow and cooling processes to create building materials like walls, pillars, and insulation. Professor Ali Riaz, Vice-Chairman of the National Consensus Commission, stated that political parties have reached a principled agreement to avoid exploiting the declaration of a state of emergency for political purposes. The United Arab Emirates has launched a new nomination-based Golden Visa for Indian and Bangladeshi nationals. Unlike previous options, this visa can be obtained without major investments, requiring a fee of AED 100,000 (approximately 3.3 million Bangladeshi Taka). Unlike property-based visas, this Golden Visa is permanent and allows holders to live with family members, employ domestic helpers and drivers, and work as professionals or businessmen. Nominations will be based on applicants’ social and criminal background checks. If successful during the trial phase, the program may be extended to nationals of other countries.

Barrister Shamim Haider Patwary has been officially appointed as the General Secretary of the Jatiya Party. The decision was made by the party chairman, Golam Mohammad Quader, and confirmed on Monday, July 7, by the chairman’s press secretary, Khandakar Delwar Jalali. Overseas Bangladeshis continue to play a vital role in strengthening the country’s economy through remittance inflows. In the first six days of July 2025, remittance reached $427 million, marking a 15.34% increase compared to the same period last year. The Ministry of Cultural Affairs has formed a 19-member reform committee led by renowned writer and translator Fayzul Latif Chowdhury to bring timely and qualitative changes to Bangla Academy. Professor Muhammad Azam, Director General of Bangla Academy, will serve as member secretary. The committee includes prominent writers, researchers, poets, and journalists, and will review the institution’s laws, structure, and functions. It has been asked to submit its recommendations within three months. The academy will provide full administrative support to the committee.
