Iran’s security chief Ali Larijani dismissed U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent threat, saying Tehran is not intimidated by such warnings. The exchange followed Trump’s statement that the United States would deliver a strong response if Iran blocked oil shipments through the strategic Strait of Hormuz. Responding on social media platform X, Larijani wrote that Iran does not fear Trump’s empty threats, adding that even more powerful figures had failed to eliminate Iran. He cautioned Trump to take care of himself so that he does not face destruction. The remarks, reported by Al Jazeera, reflect continuing tensions between Washington and Tehran over control of vital energy routes and the broader geopolitical rivalry in the region.

US Defense Secretary Peter Hegseth stated that Tuesday would be the most intense day of attacks in Iran. Speaking at a press conference in Washington, he described the day as another period of heavy strikes and claimed that Iran was being severely defeated. According to Hegseth, the number of missiles launched from Iran in the past 24 hours was the lowest so far. The remarks were reported by Al Jazeera and reflect the continuing escalation of hostilities involving Iran. The statement comes amid reports of missile exchanges and heightened regional tensions. Hegseth’s comments suggest that the United States perceives Iran’s military capacity as weakening under sustained pressure. The situation remains fluid, with related developments including reports of injuries to an Israeli minister’s son and threats of stronger retaliation if oil exports are obstructed. Broader regional impacts, such as disruptions to gas supplies in India, have also been noted.

Sarjis Alam, chief organizer of the National Citizens Party (NCP) for the northern region, has criticized the government’s decision to relax educational qualification requirements for chairpersons of managing committees and governing bodies of private educational institutions. Speaking at an NCP divisional iftar gathering in Rajshahi on March 10, 2026, he alleged that such a move could expose educational institutions to political influence and party-based control. Alam recalled that during the interim government period, a rule required managing committee chairpersons to hold at least an honors degree, but that condition was later removed. He argued that eliminating qualification standards in education management could harm the country’s education system. He also accused the Awami League of previously damaging educational quality and establishing authoritarian control. Issuing a warning to the BNP, Alam said that if the party follows a similar path, the public will reject it. He urged BNP to include qualified individuals or train its members to be competent, cautioning that any political manipulation of the education system would not be tolerated.

Israeli media have rejected circulating rumors that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was injured or killed during the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict. The speculation originated from a Monday report by Iran’s Tasnim News Agency, which offered no direct evidence or official confirmation. The report relied on indirect indicators such as the absence of recent video appearances, increased security near Netanyahu’s residence, and postponed visits by foreign envoys. Tasnim, known to be close to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, stated that the claims had neither been confirmed nor denied by any government source. Israeli outlets pointed out that Netanyahu’s office released an official statement on March 7 and that he was listed as having visited Beersheba on March 6. Independent reports also noted his recent phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron, as reported by the Jerusalem Post on March 5. As of Monday evening, no credible official source had verified Tasnim’s claims. Israeli media emphasized that the absence of new footage or changes in official schedules during wartime often fuels unfounded conspiracy theories rather than confirming any attack or injury.

The price of the US dollar rose sharply in Bangladesh on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Banks that had been buying dollars from foreign exchange houses at Tk 122.30–122.35 are now paying Tk 122.90. As a result, the import rate has climbed to Tk 123, up from Tk 122.50 a week earlier. According to bank sources, the increase is linked to higher demand for dollars ahead of a seven-day Eid holiday when banks will remain closed. Officials explained that importers are rushing to settle letters of credit before the holiday period. The situation has been compounded by the ongoing war involving Iran, Israel, and the United States, which has disrupted industries and bank branches in Middle Eastern regions with large Bangladeshi communities. Foreign remittance houses are offering higher rates due to this uncertainty, further pushing up the dollar price. A senior business executive warned that the sudden rise could fuel inflation, while a deputy managing director of a private bank urged the central bank to act promptly to prevent a dollar shortage. Bangladesh Bank data show the interbank rate rose to Tk 122.58, and the open market rate reached Tk 125.80.

Passenger train operations between China and North Korea are set to resume on Thursday, ending a suspension that began in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Travel operators confirmed the restart based on information from official ticket offices in Beijing and Dandong. Initially, the service will be available only to Chinese citizens working or studying in North Korea, as well as those traveling for employment, education, or family visits. Tourist ticket sales will remain closed for now. Rowan Beard, tour manager at Europe-based Young Pioneer Tours, told AFP that the resumption of international train service is a positive development. Although the initial phase excludes tourists, he noted that the route could serve as an alternative to air travel once tourism to North Korea reopens. The two countries had completely sealed their borders in 2020 due to the pandemic. Last year, North Korea and Russia resumed direct flights and train services, allowing limited cross-border movement between them.
