A former officer-in-charge (OC) was assaulted by a mob while shopping at a local market in Mirpur on Thursday. Around 10–12 individuals, identifying themselves as activists of the BNP's volunteer wing, Swachhasebak Dal, surrounded and physically attacked him. They allegedly stole his cash and mobile phone. Police later rescued the victim, Masudur Rahman, and arrested five Swachhasebak Dal members at the scene.

Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir Mourns Victims of Ahmedabad Plane Crash

Patuakhali's Patabunia Bazaar witnessed multiple violent clashes on Thursday night between supporters of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Gono Odhikar Parishad. At least 50 activists from both parties were injured in a series of attacks and acts of vandalism. Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur was reportedly trapped at the location until 1:30 AM. Despite the presence of police and army personnel, authorities struggled to bring the situation under control. Additional police forces have since been deployed.

Nurul Haque Nur, President of Gana Odhikar Parishad, has reportedly been held hostage by followers of BNP leader Hasan Mamun. Party leader Abu Hanif claimed that since 10 PM on Thursday, Hasan Mamun’s supporters blocked the road at Bat Tala Bazar in Galachipa upazila by felling trees and armed themselves with slingshots, rods, and machetes. They allegedly attacked locals and vandalized two motorcycles. Despite police presence after 11 PM, the situation remained uncontrolled.

Gana Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur Allegedly Held Hostage by BNP Leader Hasan Mamun’s Followers: Abu Hanif

BNP’s Khulna divisional acting organizational secretary, Anindya Islam Amit, has taken responsibility for the treatment of a 7-year-old girl who was raped by a neighbor in Jessore’s Chowgacha area. The child, critically injured, was admitted to Jessore General Hospital.

Police have arrested the accused, 55-year-old Mizanur Rahman. Visiting the hospital, Amit assured the family of continued medical support and pledged to engage BNP’s legal wing to ensure justice for the victim.

BNP leader takes responsibility for medical care of raped 7-year-old girl in Jessore

Zahidul Islam, President of Islami Chhatra Shibir, has stated that no individual can dictate who gets to participate in politics in Bangladesh. “The former head of the fascist Awami League frequently sought to ban us, yet just five days after doing so, they themselves fled the country,” he said.

Zahidul warned the Chhatra Dal president to learn from the past or face the same consequences. “If you choose to speak in the tone of fascism, the people and students of this country will ensure you meet the same fate as other fascist leaders,” he added. Zahidul also reiterated that the unity of their movement remains intact.

Gono Adhikar Parishad leader Abu Hanif has emphasized that reforms and justice for past genocides must take precedence over elections. "We want reforms to be completed swiftly and genuine progress made on prosecuting those responsible for the genocide. People of this country have been denied their right to vote for the past 15 years. That must change," he said.

Criticizing local governance, he stated, "Despite the presence of many Awami League leaders in Kishoreganj over the years, the area saw no real development. The entire state needs structural reform." She urged officials to treat state institutions as their own and to combat misinformation, while stressing the importance of training in ICT and contemporary skills for media personnel.

The Dirai Press Club election in Sunamganj was suspended after alleged interference by local BNP leaders Mizanur Rahman Mizan and Iqbal Hossain Chowdhury. They reportedly led a group to the polling center and pressured officials to halt the vote.
