A CNG autorickshaw driver named Rafsan Hossain Hridoy, aged 24, was stabbed to death on Wednesday night in Dhorokra Bazar area of Chiura Union under Chauddagram upazila in Cumilla. The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. when a dispute broke out following a motorcycle collision. Witnesses said that after the altercation, several men arrived on motorcycles and attacked locals, during which Hridoy was stabbed by one of the assailants. He was taken to a local clinic and later to Chauddagram Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead.

Family members said Hridoy was a CNG driver and alleged that drug dealers and members of a teenage gang were behind the killing. They recalled that his father, Hedayet Ullah Hedu, had also been murdered in a stabbing incident in 2006. Police confirmed the death and said investigations were underway to determine the motive and identify whether the suspects were involved in drug trade or gang activity.

Authorities have launched a manhunt to arrest the accused as the community demands justice for the killing.

An elderly man who had been stranded for 24 hours in the no-man’s land near the Ramrampur border of Bakshiganj upazila in Jamalpur has been identified and is now in police custody. The man, named Shashti Chandra Barman, aged 68, is the son of Babu Chandra Barman and a resident of Chandlai village in Godagari upazila of Rajshahi district. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) rescued him around 7 a.m. on Thursday from the area near international pillar number 1082 and brought him to Bakshiganj police station. BGB officials said he would be handed over to his family once they arrive.

The previous morning, tension had arisen at the Ramrampur border when attempts were made to bring the man into Bangladesh, leading to a standoff involving local residents, BGB, and India’s Border Security Force (BSF). His photos later went viral on television and social media, helping his family contact BGB to confirm his identity.

Authorities reported that the man remains at the police station while arrangements are made for his family to take him home.

A man named Akash, aged 25, died after falling from a five-story building while allegedly attempting theft in Kuliarchar, Kishoreganj. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Zaman Tower in the municipal area. Akash, son of Jewel Mia from Chararban area of Ward 5, reportedly fell while trying to escape after being chased by locals.

According to eyewitnesses and residents, Akash had earlier been accused of stealing air conditioner pipes and electrical wires from the Kuliarchar Model Mosque. Locals pursued him, prompting him to flee to Zaman Tower. When spotted inside the building, he was again chased, during which he fell and landed on a battery-run autorickshaw before hitting the road. He was seriously injured and taken to Kuliarchar Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead.

Police stated that an inquest report is being prepared, and the body will be sent for autopsy as part of the legal process. The incident has caused considerable commotion in the area.

One person was killed and at least ten others were injured in a clash between two groups during a village arbitration in Chapainawabganj. Bangladesh’s Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested two suspects in connection with the killing of BNP leader Billal Hossain Talukder in Dhaka’s Mouchak area. The detainees are identified as Siraj, the fourth accused in the case and alleged mastermind, and Rakibul Islam Shihab, known as Golden Rakib, the tenth accused. RAB-3 confirmed the arrests in a text message on Wednesday night, stating that the operation was conducted in separate raids in Lakshmipur district. A local leader of the Krishak Dal, Badal Morol, aged 38, was killed in an attack by unidentified assailants in Bagerhat’s Sadar upazila on Tuesday night. According to local sources, the incident occurred around 11 p.m. at Niyoti Mor in Fakirhat upazila when helmeted attackers assaulted Badal Morol and ward BNP president Abdullah Morol with sharp weapons. Six individuals were detained by the 13th Armed Police Battalion (APBn) at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on June 10, 2026, for possessing approximately 597.3 grams of gold jewelry. The human rights organization Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) has expressed deep concern over a brutal incident in Cox’s Bazar’s Matamuhuri upazila, where a woman and her teenage daughter were gang-raped during a home robbery. According to ASK’s press release issued on Wednesday, a ten-member gang broke into the victims’ house late Monday night by cutting the window grill, looted gold and cash, and then committed the assault. The organization emphasized that sexual violence and gang rape are completely unacceptable and that repeated incidents of such crimes erode public confidence and create fear and insecurity in society.

ASK demanded the immediate identification and arrest of all perpetrators, calling for their punishment under the law. It also urged authorities to provide urgent medical, psychological, and legal support, along with maximum security for the victims.

CBA leaders at the Power Development Board (PDB) office in Chattogram allegedly assaulted an assistant engineer in front of the executive engineer on Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred between 1:40 pm and 2:30 pm at the PDB building in Agrabad, when the leaders entered the executive engineer Nilufar Yasmin’s office and created chaos. The attack followed a dispute over the appointment of a data entry operator on a 'no work, no pay' basis. The matter became public after a video went viral on social media the next day.

A Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Court has ordered the Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) authorities and police to dismantle an alleged ambulance syndicate following attacks on National Committee to Protect Oil, Gas, Mineral Resources, Power and Ports (NCP) activists who protested against inflated ambulance fares. The court also directed that a case be filed against those responsible and a report submitted within seven days.

The order, issued by Magistrate Monirul Hasan Sarkar, included six directives such as ensuring access for all ambulances, displaying fare charts, stopping extortion, and setting up a police outpost and complaint booth. The Additional Deputy Police Commissioner (North) was instructed to investigate the incident using two videos and identify attackers, extortionists, and fake ambulance drivers. CMCH authorities stated that fare determination is the responsibility of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, noting that only five ambulances are government-owned while the rest are private.

Two men were caught red-handed by locals while attempting to steal an electric transformer in Jorarganj area of Mirsharai upazila, Chattogram, on the night of June 9. The suspects were handed over to Jorarganj police, who later confirmed their arrest and recovered one stolen transformer from them.

Residents of Khairbona area in Rajshahi city formed a human chain on Wednesday afternoon demanding the arrest and exemplary punishment of a Swechchhasebak Dal leader and several others accused of attacking the house of local resident Haji Md. Anarul Bhandari. The demonstration took place on the Khairbona footpath near Sahebbazar Road.

According to the complaint, on the night of May 31, a group led by Shakil Ahmed Ali, convener of the Boalia Thana East unit of Swechchhasebak Dal, allegedly attacked Bhandari’s house, vandalized property, and looted valuables. Bhandari claimed that his younger brother Sanarul was seriously injured in the assault and later admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. He also alleged that the accused had long been involved in drug dealing, extortion, and land grabbing in the area.

Police in Matlab North, Chandpur, have arrested a local Volunteer Party leader and a woman on charges of raping an eighth-grade student and causing her to become pregnant. The arrests took place on Wednesday, with the accused identified as Md. Kaiyum Mal, 36, general secretary of the Kolakanda Union Volunteer Party, and Mosammat Tania Akter, 28, both residents of Paschim Hanirpara village.

According to police and case sources, on August 4, 2024, during a student and public demonstration on the Dhaka–Tangail highway near Gorai Highway Police Station, Himel of Lalbari village was seriously injured by police shotgun pellets and later lost his eyesight. His mother, Nasima Begum, filed a case in Tangail court naming 100 individuals, including police officers, journalists, and Awami League leaders, with 400–500 unnamed accused.

Police said the two were arrested after their names appeared in the investigation. They were sent to Tangail court on Wednesday, and the investigation is ongoing.

A man named Joydeb, aged 40, who worked as a distributor for Royal Laboratories, was killed after being hit by a Moumita Paribahan bus in Dhaka’s Chankharpul area on Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. when he was crossing the road near the Chankharpul flyover. He was rescued in critical condition and taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead at around 5 p.m.

According to a passerby named Musa Gazi, the bus struck Joydeb while he was crossing the road, causing severe injuries. The hospital police camp in-charge, Inspector Md Faruk, confirmed the death citing the attending doctor. The body has been kept in the hospital morgue for autopsy, and the local police station has been informed of the incident.

Police have taken the Moumita Paribahan bus into custody. Although the victim’s name has been confirmed, further details about his identity are still being verified.
