Tomato farmers and traders in Panchagarh and Nilphamari have urged the government to stop tomato imports from India, citing a drastic fall in local prices. They held a human chain protest, stating that they bought tomatoes at high prices after the season ended, but prices dropped after Indian imports resumed. Many are now unable to repay farmers and workers. They warned that without a two-week suspension of imports, they could face major financial losses, including selling land to cover debts.

Gazipur Agricultural University has developed GAU-1, Bangladesh’s first salt-tolerant wheat variety. Withstanding salinity up to 12 dS, GAU-1 is ideal for coastal regions and offers high yield and protein content. It matures quickly, is disease-resistant, and contributes to livestock feed due to high straw production. Approved by the National Seed Board, GAU-1 yields up to 4.5 tons per hectare in normal soil and 3.75 tons in saline soil. Researchers see it as a breakthrough for food security and climate-resilient agriculture in the country.

Local residents and engineers warn that further damage could threaten the structure. Opened in late 2023, the bridge improved regional connectivity but now faces urgent protection needs. Authorities say steps will be taken to prevent further erosion around the bridge.

The government has decided to cancel the route permits for 2,615 new buses in Dhaka following allegations of irregularities in the approval process. Bangladesh is boosting seasonal fruit exports, especially mangoes, jackfruits, and pineapples, aiming to tap into the global market. Despite increased production, farmers face challenges due to low prices and post-harvest losses. Government initiatives, improved logistics, and "mango diplomacy" are expanding export potential to China, Europe, and the Middle East. Local consumers are also favoring domestic fruits over imports. With rising global demand and proper support, Bangladesh can significantly increase foreign earnings through fruit exports in the coming years.

While participating in a political march in Raninagar on Sunday, NCP Convener Nahid Islam emphasized that after the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s regime, it must be ensured that no future political party can repeat the same failures in education, healthcare, administration, and corruption.

The BNP has launched a sweeping internal crackdown on members involved in extortion, land grabbing, and factional clashes. Many of these wrongdoers are linked to so-called "hybrid" and infiltrated individuals allegedly backed by rival political groups. Over 5,000 activists have been expelled and 1,000 show-caused so far. The party aims to restore its image and integrity by removing those tarnishing its reputation. Organizational and legal actions are being taken regardless of rank or influence, with a zero-tolerance policy in place.

Mahmoodur Rahman Manna, convener of the Citizens’ Unity, asserted that regardless of what other political parties say or do, BNP remains the most popular party among voters. He condemned attempts to tarnish BNP’s image through mob culture, insisting such tactics will fail. Speaking at a discussion at the Press Club on Sunday demanding arrest of those involved in the 2018 attack on BNP leader Faruq, Manna urged all parties to focus on nation-building rather than destruction. He acknowledged BNP faced the most oppression during the Awami League tenure but appealed to set aside revenge and work for public welfare.
