Three people, including a mother and her daughter, were killed in a tragic road accident in Ishwardi, Pabna. Another person was injured in the incident. The deceased have been identified as Anisur Rahman (55), a local lychee vendor, Suborna Khatun (45), wife of former BGB member Mofizul Islam, and their daughter Purnota (8). According to locals, Anisur was selling lychees by the roadside at Munnar Mor, while Mofizul was traveling with his wife and daughter on a motorcycle from Kushtia to Pabna. Upon stopping at the spot to purchase lychees, a speeding covered van ran over the group, injuring four. Three of them succumbed to their injuries.

Dhaka’s air quality has improved slightly following rainfall, removing the city from the list of the top 15 most polluted cities globally. According to the Swiss-based air quality monitoring technology company IQAir, Dhaka no longer ranks among the worst 15 cities for air pollution out of 124 monitored cities worldwide.

As of 9:30 AM on Wednesday, Baghdad topped the list as the most polluted city, followed by Kuwait City in second place. Meanwhile, Dhaka ranked 18th with an air quality index (AQI) score of 98, which falls within the ‘moderate’ category, considered acceptable for most individuals.

A total of 22 Bangladeshi pilgrims have died while performing Hajj in Saudi Arabia this year, the Ministry of Religious Affairs confirmed on Wednesday. The latest fatality was Golam Mostafa (58) from Ullapara, Sirajganj, who passed away on Tuesday following cardiac arrest. Among the deceased, 20 were men and 2 were women. Of these deaths, 14 occurred in Makkah, 7 in Madinah, and 1 in Arafat, the ministry reported.

As a result, several major trains, including the Dhaka-bound Madhumati, Banolata, and Silk City Express, as well as the Sagordari heading towards Khulna, have been stranded near the station. Locals Block Railway Demanding Intercity Train Stops at Nandangachhi Station, Rajshahi

A local BNP activist, Liton Hossain (30), was brutally hacked to death in Jessore’s Sharsha upazila on Tuesday night due to longstanding political enmity. According to locals, Liton was having tea at a market around 9 PM when two individuals, identified as Selim and Ramzan, launched a sudden attack with locally-made weapons. Severely injured, Liton was rushed to Sharsha Upazila Health Complex by his relatives, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. Liton’s father, Azgar Ali, claimed that his son had an ongoing political conflict with local Awami League leader A. Momin, along with Selim and Ramzan, which ultimately led to the murder.

Joint Army-Traffic Police Operation in Uttara Yields Fines of Tk 310,000

Detectives have arrested Mohammad Shamim Mia, President of Magura District Muktijoddha Projonmo League, in connection with the murder of two students, Ahad and Sumon, during the recent mass uprising in Mohammadpur, Magura. Officer-in-Charge Md. Russel Munshi confirmed that Shamim Mia was a named suspect in the case. He had been on the run since the fall of the Awami League government. Acting on a tip-off, police arrested him near his home on Tuesday afternoon. He has since been sent to the Magura District Court.
