The Dhaka University administration has formed the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) election commission, appointing Professor Dr. Mohammad Jasim Uddin of the Botany Department as the Chief Returning Officer. The appointment was approved during a syndicate meeting on Monday. Additionally, nine other returning officers have been appointed to assist with the election process. They will coordinate with the Vice-Chancellor to determine the next steps for holding the election. Meanwhile, a section of students staged protests demanding the immediate announcement of the election schedule.

A court has imposed a travel ban on Mihir Kanti Majumder, Chairman of the Udvash Board of Directors, along with nine others. Their National Identity Cards (NIDs) have also been suspended following a petition by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). According to reports, the accused individuals illegally transferred BDT 89.78 million from the microcredit fund to an unauthorized Goldbricks project, violating the Microcredit Regulatory Authority Act. Additionally, BDT 44.8 million was diverted to the A&P Battery Project.

The mayor of San Mateo Piñas in southern Mexico’s Oaxaca state was shot dead in her office on Sunday. According to local authorities, four armed individuals stormed the office, killing Mayor Lilia García and another municipal official. Two police officers were injured in the attack. Prosecutors have launched an investigation, and federal agents and military forces have been deployed in the area. During the 15 days surrounding Eid-ul-Azha, Bangladesh witnessed 379 road accidents, resulting in 390 deaths and 1,182 injuries, according to the Bangladesh Passengers Welfare Association. Government Employees Resume Protest Against Ordinance-25 After Eid Holidays
Three people, including a father and his 9-year-old son, died when a passenger bus collided with a covered van in Ramu, Cox's Bazar. The accident occurred around 9 AM in the Jetirghata area of Rashid Nagar Union. A young woman was also among the deceased, and 10 others sustained injuries. The bus overturned after the crash. Emergency services rescued the injured by cutting through the wreckage. Authorities have sent the bodies to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital and seized both vehicles involved.
