A letter circulating on Facebook claiming that BNP leader Hasan Mamun has been expelled from all party positions is completely false, according to the central BNP. Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi clarified that the party has not taken any such action. Mamun himself stated that the letter was digitally manipulated to spread misinformation and urged party members not to be misled by rumors.

Controversy has erupted following allegations that Nurul Haque Nur, President of Gono Odhikar Parishad, was confined and assaulted during an attack on the BNP office at Charbishwas Union in Galachipa Upazila. Nur claimed that on Thursday night, he and his associates were held hostage on the orders of Hasan Mamun. However, Howlader Ifteyas Uddin Joy, former Joint Secretary of Dashmina Upazila BNP, dismissed the claims as fabricated. “These are ghost stories,” he said, accusing Nur’s followers of launching the attack on the BNP office. “Everyone knows the kind of person who fled the area after being thrashed by locals despite once holding the title of VP,” he added, referring to Nur’s controversial past.

Recently, some Indian media outlets and social media users spread rumors blaming Turkey’s Turkish Technic for the recent Air India plane crash. However, a report by Anadolu’s Fact-Check Line confirmed that the crashed aircraft was not maintained by Turkish Technic. The rumor spread using misleading photos. Turkish Technic only maintains Air India’s Boeing 777 aircraft, which are currently operating safely. The actual cause of the crash is still under investigation, and so far, there is no evidence of any maintenance-related fault. Notably, various international studies have repeatedly identified Indian media as one of the leading sources of false news and misinformation in the world.

NCP leader Hasnat Abdullah has expressed disappointment over the recent meeting between Interim Government Chief Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus and BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman. A new 9-credit ICT course is set to be introduced from the next academic year for students under Bangladesh's National University system, aiming to improve their competitiveness in the job market. There is no possibility of new gas connections for residential users—even if one waits till doomsday—said Adviser Fawzul Kabir Khan during his visit to the Sylhet Gas Field. The government’s priority, he stated, is to ensure gas supply for power generation and industrial use, not households. "Residents will have to rely on LPG (liquefied petroleum gas)," he added. Explaining the rationale, the adviser said that Bangladesh is losing approximately 200 million cubic feet of gas production annually, while only 60 to 70 million cubic feet are being added from new sources. As a result, gas imports are increasing. To counter this, the government is taking steps to enhance domestic production. A suspected drug dealer, Firoza Khatun (50), has died in police custody following a joint forces operation in Katiadi, Kishoreganj. Inspector Habibullah Khan of Katiadi Model Police Station reported that while Firoza’s husband managed to flee, she was arrested with 11 yaba pills, 22 packets of cannabis, and Tk 32,664 in cash. Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested Md. Abu Bakkar (42), a fugitive sentenced to life imprisonment in a gang rape case, after 21 years in hiding. He was apprehended in the Karnafuli Tea Estate area of Chattogram. Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police ARM Mozaffar Hossain stated that during initial interrogation, Abu Bakkar admitted to being the convict sentenced to life imprisonment with hard labor and fined one lakh taka in connection with the gang rape case.
